Do Singaporeans dress badly?

Here's to the contest of Singaporean's dress sense of Nuffnang...

Personally, I don't really think I have a specific style or something and I definitely feel that Singaporeans are one of those in the world whom have the widest range of styles than any other countries in the world. For a start, we have more than four races, and each of them have influenced the other over the years that we've been together... and you can already see Chinese wearing Indian-inspired clothing and kebayas... so are other races doing the same. Recently on my company's Dinner & Dance, we have Chinese and Caucasians dressed in Kimonos, Nonya kebayas (Ok... I would say that its influence from the drama Little Nonya, haha!) But well, most fashion we have here are inspired from what we see around us everyday, isn't it?

I guess it really depends on the situations when deciding on the type of clothing items to put on.Dressing appropriately is important Pretty normal for poly students to don t-shirt, casual shorts or pants/leggings to school, but nothing too skimpy ba. Like sometimes on the train you can simply see some people trying too hard to look funky/sexy with weird looking high caps, too many metallic items, hot pants riding too high into the butt or too low from the hips. Exposing thongs & G-strings (deliberately)are the worst fashion disasters ever... not everyone can carry it off like runway models. Flip flops are alright of course, if you match it with the right outfit, e.g. beachwear or casual wear. Of course, it'll be siao-ness if you see anyone in business wear in flip flops.

Also, dressing appropriately for your age is also important. Will feel weird if you see a young girl in auntie auntie wear or auntie/ah-mahs in tank tops and hot pants. I would say, all in all, Singaporean's dress sense, although not as powderful as Japanese, they can still be just as good, just because we have our own Singaporean taste which indeed is as diverse as our races . Of course, it'll change with time, but it will not be too far from what there is in the other parts of the world.

Now for Step 2
: What are your comments about people wearing their PJs out?

My comments... well... its alright if "out" means going downstairs to mama shops to get a copy of newspapers or to nearby coffee shop to get breakfast in the morning... but NOT ALRIGHT if it means out to town, work, etc.... unless a special event ask for it. Actually it'd be more of the person's courage to do that.. and if they think its alright, its their freedom! Its still a clothing item right?

Step 3 of the contest: Post a picture

"Show us how you can look good in your PJs!!!! We want pictures as evidence!!!!" Alright. Here goes. I'm the one in front. We don our PJs throughout Singapore that day. From Vivo City, to Hort Park, to Singapore River, to Lau Pat Sat, to Sentosa... People must have thought we're a group of mad-man. But we all did anyway... and did we look good in it? You decide. Haha. Pictures attached. That's all for this post.
